My Gear

Though it is the photographer that actually takes or creates the image, equipments do have a role to play in image creation. I am often asked about what kind of camera body and lenses I use to create my images. So, here I am providing list of my gear:

Camera bodies:Here’s what I currently use:

Nikon D810 with Really Right Stuff L Bracket

Lenses and teleconverters and filters:

Nikon 16-35 mm f/4: This is my go to lens for wide angle landscape photography as well as for star trail images

Nikon 16 mm f/28 Fish eye: I love this lens and it can add a new dimensions to my images due to its fish eye feature.

Sigma 24 mm f/1.4: This is a prime lens and it is very fast and I started liking it more and more for night photography especially for milky way shots. This lens allows me to open the aperture wide enough to get a good exposure on milky way under 30 seconds so that stars are points rather than streaks.

Nikon 50 mm f/2.8: This is another prime lens I use for people picture as well as still life. This also my go to lens to create multi shot panoramic images

Nikon 70-200 mm f/2.8 VRII: This is my go to lens for intimate landscape images.

Sigma 105 mm f/2.8 Macro: I love this lens for flower closeups and macro images. This lens can focus as close as 6 inches from the subject.

Nikon 200-500 mm f/5.6 VRII: This is a recent addition to my gear. I have been using it only for few months now mainly for bird photography and I am totally in love with this lens.

Nikon 1.4X teleconverter: I need to explore it more.

Nikon 1.7X teleconverter: Have not used it much.

Nikon circular polarizing filter: I love this filter and always use it for water photography as well as landscape photography

Singh Ray Vari-ND filter: This is a very useful filter especially for water photography and can help to increase the shutter speed by cutting down the light. Optical quality is excellent

Singh Ray GND filters: Use these filter depending on the exposure conditions.

Tripod and ball head:

Gitzo GT2542L series 2 6X Carbon fiber tripod

Really Right Stuff BH 55 ball head
